How to add gamma levels to Sierra Chart

Put today's Gamma Axis levels on a Sierra Chart price chart or DOM in a couple of minutes using horizontal lines — no leaving the platform.

Sierra Chart is where a lot of serious ES and NQ traders live, so this guide uses the universal import method rather than a plugin — the levels go on as horizontal lines, which Sierra Chart draws precisely and keeps anchored to price. There is no dedicated Gamma Axis study for Sierra Chart, and you don't need one: the routine below is quick, exact, and repeatable every morning.

What you need before you start

You only need two things: today's levels and a chart on the right instrument. Open the Gamma Axis dashboard, pick your instrument (ES for S&P, NQ for Nasdaq), and have a Sierra Chart price chart or Trading DOM open on that same contract so the lines land where you trade.

Add the levels as horizontal lines

The fastest exact method in Sierra Chart is the Horizontal Line drawing tool, because you type the price instead of dragging it. This keeps every wall and the flip on the precise value the dashboard published.

  1. Copy today's level values for your instrument from the dashboard, keeping the names (call wall, put wall, GEX magnets, HVL flip) next to each price.
  2. Select Sierra Chart's Horizontal Line drawing tool and place a line on the chart.
  3. Open the line's settings and type the exact price rather than dragging it, so it's tick-accurate.
  4. Use the line's text field to label it ("Call wall", "HVL flip", and so on) so the chart stays readable mid-session.
  5. Repeat for each level, and colour-code so walls and the flip are instantly distinguishable.

Keep the lines beside the order flow

The levels are most useful right next to the ladder, so keep a chart on the same symbol as your Trading DOM and set the gamma lines there. Save the result as a Chartbook so the whole layout — chart, DOM and the labelled levels — returns the next time you open Sierra Chart.

Make the morning refresh painless

The one rule that matters: redraw the levels every day, because they're rebuilt from each day's options positioning and yesterday's map doesn't apply. Two ways to keep it fast: delete and retype the line prices each morning, or — if you'd rather not touch it — a Go Supporter plan (€19.90/mo) gives you full history and auto-refreshing native indicators on the platforms that support them, so you can keep Sierra Chart for execution and let the levels update elsewhere. Either way, start the session with today's numbers, not yesterday's.

FAQ

Is there a Gamma Axis study for Sierra Chart?

No dedicated study today. You add the daily levels with Sierra Chart's built-in Horizontal Line tool — the values are identical to any native indicator, just placed by hand.

Can I see the levels beside my Trading DOM?

Keep a chart on the same symbol as your DOM and set the gamma levels as horizontal lines there, so the walls sit right next to the order flow.

Do I need to redo this every day?

Yes — the levels change daily with the options positioning, so retype them each morning or use a plan that auto-refreshes them for you.

ES or NQ — which levels do I load?

Load the set that matches your chart: ES for the S&P map, NQ for the Nasdaq map.
